RC Racing History

This site is a placeholder for a project to record some of the history of the sport of RC car racing. It’s very much a work in progress. For the moment it’s simply a repository of content from my old R/C blog “Action RC” that covered the sport in Australia, but that will change over time.

If you want to explore some RC history, join us at the Action RC podcast where we’re talking to key figures from across the sport. You can find the Action RC podcast anywhere you listen to podcasts, or go directly to the web player here.

An Action R/C Archive

Action R/C was not only a hobby retailer, but a home for storytelling abour R/C car racing for most of the 2000’s and 2010’s in Qld, Australia. We’ve uploaded the stories from the website over that period here – mostly as a time capsule. Thinks like links and photos either won’t work or will take a while – but the stories should be here.

Enjoy!

If only we raced 1/12th

Schumacher Eclipse 1/12th LMP Circuit Car
There are only a few truly iconic cars and names in the RC racing world, two that are mentioned in the same breath are “Cecil Schumacher” and the “Schumacher ‘C’ Car”.
The revolutionary ‘C’ car emerged from the Schumacher stable and won multiple European Championships in the 1980’s. This was just the beginning for Schumacher Racing, and after a gap of nearly 35 years, we are excited to announce the arrival of the latest 1/12th circuit car to bear the Schumacher name, the ECLIPSE.
The ECLIPSE breaks the mould of 1/12th circuit car design and features a full length carbon fibre chassis and high quality engineering polymer mouldings throughout. The ECLIPSE is durable, easy to maintain, but above all, fast! The design makes the ECLIPSE forgiving and easy to drive. Your best bet for the top step of the podium.
The Schumacher ECLIPSE, a new beginning.
Pre-Orders being taken, due approx. end October 2016.

Mi6 sensation

We are pleased to introduce to you the new Schumacher Mi6 1/10th Competition Touring Car!!!
The new Mi6 from Schumacher born from the multi national championship winning ‘Mi’ platform.
Superbly engineered and equipped as standard with some awesome new equipment, the Mi6 enables set up changes to be made simply and quickly.
Designed for both carpet and asphalt tracks the new Mi6 bearing pivot points offer sensationally free wishbones with no slop and with an even lower centre of gravity the Mi6 carries even more corner speed.
Although still as responsive and nimble to drive as ever, the Mi6 gives class leading consistency and durability, superb for all levels of driver.

Racing this week

Saturday 1st August. There will be vintage action at Boondall in the morning and looks like I may be able to get there – 2 weeks in a row, that’s a rare thing for me.
From 2pm there will be practice and racing at Bayside, I’m likely to be there for awhile but not sure if I’ll be racing yet. I believe it will be reverse direction.
Currently getting some surplus secondhand  cars ready for sale (so I can buy something else – hehe.)
Hope to see you at the track soon.

That's not testing – That's RACING

A great day’s racing at Bayside today 8/8/10
Of the 12 that lined up for 540 today there were 8 drivers using the SP CIRTIX club race 21.5 combo which we are testing for possible inclusion in 540, 1 using a Tekin set at zero and an open 21.5 motor and 3 using brushed 540 motors.
To carry the stats a little further there were 7 Schumacher, 3 Xray, 1 Tamiya and 1 Corally.
In qualifying the TQ was anyones but the grinner at the end was Tony Lewis with a Cirtix and a Schumacher who did a 17/6m4.93 to take TQ by about 3 seconds there was about 11 seconds between the top 6, and all of the best laps were within about half a second of each other.
The finals were just fantasticly close races with absolutely

It's coming and I want one

It’s long been said by us that it was the Hotshot that started it all for us, but no it wasn’t really. before we bought the first Hotshot we went out and drove a nephews car – the Holiday Buggy.
Tamiya must have known I wanted one because they have announced a rerelease of it – wow it is going to find a spot on my wall with the Datsun 1600, the Hotshot and the other bits of nostalga that hang out in my study.
