That's not testing – That's RACING

A great day’s racing at Bayside today 8/8/10
Of the 12 that lined up for 540 today there were 8 drivers using the SP CIRTIX club race 21.5 combo which we are testing for possible inclusion in 540, 1 using a Tekin set at zero and an open 21.5 motor and 3 using brushed 540 motors.
To carry the stats a little further there were 7 Schumacher, 3 Xray, 1 Tamiya and 1 Corally.
In qualifying the TQ was anyones but the grinner at the end was Tony Lewis with a Cirtix and a Schumacher who did a 17/6m4.93 to take TQ by about 3 seconds there was about 11 seconds between the top 6, and all of the best laps were within about half a second of each other.
The finals were just fantasticly close races with absolutely nothing sepoerating the top cars at times. Tony won the first leg from B1 and Heavy, Heavy won the second leg from Tony and B1, Tony won the third leg from B1 and B2 (just a note there for B2 – you’ve got nothing ) It’s fair to say Heavy was fairly pumped about winning the second leg also setting the fastest time of any of the final legs at 17/6m.7.400, which was actually an almost identical time to what was done at the Interclub by a brushed 540.
So Tony won this round of the 540/Cirtix world titles from Brad Palmer – second on a tie break from Heavy. The real winner was RC – I haven’t had that much fun or been in that many close races for ages. If you want a Cirtix 21.5 system you can get it from ActionRC and also MrToys and I believe the Hobby Shop at Browns Plains and there is also a shop on the Northside selling them as well – but please remember they will not be legal for any Interclub or ORRCA events in 2010 and are only in an evaluation stage. As so many people have them now it’s hard to see us not continuing to run them at club level. For those just getting their systems the roll out we are using is around 58mmpr.
Notable also today was Roy Clark who won the B from Wayne Sutton – Roy was using a 540 brushed in a Schumacher and Wayne was using a Cirtix system in a Schumacher – more proof that the 2 systems can run side by side.
There was also stock racing at Bayside today. TQ went to Peter (new Yokomo) from Clinton and Jordan and the finals finished the same way but with Peter andClinton both finishing the finals on 19 points Peter got the tie break on qualifying so that was pretty close racing as well. The TQ time of Peter was a couple of seconds quicker than TQ time at the Interclub but the finals times were quite a bit slower.
There was also Gas and Pro Tourer action as well but at the moment I don’t have those results.
A good day, beautiful weather, good racing, good mates, good food and a good atmosphere all round well done Bayside.

A great day of racing, great company and a lot of laughs. But today was a real eye opener to see just how close the racing can get. There is real potential for there to be a different winner every time we venture onto the race track. As Heavy commented today,…..”Just one minor misshap, and it makes it so hard to gain lost ground”………So true!!! But when everyone is on the money, the racing becomes a real nail bighter. Look forward to Logan on Saturday night.
P.S. B1 NOTHIN
B2 NOTHIN
